About Facelifts
A facelift is a cosmetic procedure that rejuvenates the face and neck by removing excess skin and fat while tightening the underlying muscles. This procedure allows individuals to combat the changes brought about by aging, such as sagging skin, deep folds, and jowls. (1) As we grow older, the skin tends to lose elasticity, making it sag and wrinkle. (1) Factors such as sun exposure, weight loss, lifestyle choices, and genetics can also contribute to the visible effects of aging on our faces. Historically, facelifts date back to the early 20th century, evolving through various techniques to become a common and effective choice in cosmetic surgery today. (2)

Benefits
Undergoing a facelift offers numerous benefits that help patients look younger and feel more confident. Under the expert care of Dr. Omidi, our patients achieve improvements through:
- Youthful appearance: A facelift can significantly reduce signs of aging, helping you look younger and more vibrant.
- Improved skin tightening: The procedure tightens loose and sagging skin, giving facial contours a smoother and firmer look.
- Reduction of deep wrinkles: A facelift diminishes the visibility of deep lines around the nose, mouth, and forehead.
- Enhanced definition: Patients often experience improved jawline and neck definition after surgery, creating a more elegant profile.
- Long-lasting results: Compared to less invasive procedures, facelifts provide longer-lasting improvements to youthfulness and facial symmetry.
- Boosted self-confidence: A refreshed appearance can lead to increased confidence and a positive self-image.
- Personalized approaches: Each facelift is uniquely tailored to the individual’s facial structure and cosmetic goals.
- Comprehensive rejuvenation: When combined with complementary procedures such as brow lifts or eyelid surgery, patients can achieve full facial rejuvenation.
Candidates
Different individuals have varying reasons for choosing a facelift. Most patients feel that premature aging has made them look older than they actually are and wish to restore their youthful appearance. Other patients cite stress, weight loss, health issues, or frequent sun exposure as possible causes of facial wrinkles, sagging skin, and sunken cheeks, and seek a facelift to amend these changes.
The most common candidates for facelifts are around 40 years old and have particular signs of aging that they wish to correct. Patients should be in good general health and keep realistic expectations for their results. Overall health and skin condition play a more important role than age in eligibility. During your consultation, Dr. Omidi will take his time to familiarize himself with your concerns and your particular expectations for the procedure.

Preparation
Dr. Omidi will instruct you to stop smoking (if applicable) and avoid blood-thinning medications before your procedure. The day before surgery, you should not drink or eat anything after midnight. On the morning of surgery, take a prescribed nausea medication with a small sip of water and avoid wearing makeup or perfume. Patients should also arrange transportation home from their treatment and take time off work or social activities to recover without any physical or mental stress. All patients will receive specific preparation instructions that cater to their unique medical history and treatment plan.
Procedure
All facelifts involve tightening the skin and underlying muscles to eliminate skin laxity and bring about a more youthful and natural look. It usually lasts two to five hours, depending on what techniques are being employed.
At the start of your procedure, an experienced anesthesiologist or CRNA will administer general anesthesia for your safety and comfort. Patients usually also receive a local anesthetic on their faces to reduce post-procedure discomfort. Dr. Omidi will make incisions in your hairline at the temples. (3) The number of incisions is determined by specific facial areas that require revision.
He will then tighten underlying facial tissues and make your overlying skin tissue smooth and wrinkle-free. (3) Dr. Omidi will also remove excess skin and fat while raising the skin from the cheeks, temples, and neck. In some cases, fat grafting is used to restore facial volume, or liposuction is used to reduce fat in the jowls and neck area..
Facelifts come in different varieties with some requiring more incisions and corrections than others. Known for being open with his patients, Dr. Omidi provides a careful consultation to make sure you understand whether you need a full facelift, a midface lift, or a mini facelift for best results. Over the years, he has mastered a safe and up-to-date facelift technique that guarantees smaller incisions, minimal scarring and bleeding, less hair loss, minor numbness, and the quickest recovery.
Full Facelift
A full facelift typically involves a whole complex of rejuvenating treatments targeting all areas of the face and neck. Offering the most thorough means to achieve facial rejuvenation, this procedure treats the forehead, midface, lower face, and neck. Considered to be the most effective facial procedure, it not only tightens your skin but also treats the underlying muscle tissue and fat. Aside from reviving the appearance of your facial skin, a full facelift has the great advantage of tightening loose skin in the jawline and the neck. (3)
Midface Lift
Not all patients require an extensive full facelift, seeking instead to revitalize specific areas of the face. Dr. Omidi will perform a midface lift when a patient primarily would benefit from addressing nasolabial folds or smile lines. This procedure will elevate the cheeks and address drooping jowls. A midface lift makes a big difference in restoring your youthful appearance because correcting sagging cheeks eliminates one of the earliest signs of aging. A midface lift also corrects hollow areas below the lower eyelids, giving you a more refreshed look. (3)
Mini Facelift
Mini facelifts are becoming increasingly popular due to their less invasive nature and minimal downtime. Unlike full facelifts, this procedure typically requires only a local anesthetic and takes approximately one to two hours to complete. Like midface lifts, a mini facelift also targets the signs of aging in the midface, cheeks, and lower eyelids. However, it produces subtler results, making it more suitable for younger patients who require only a mild revision. (3) It is particularly effective for restoring definition in your jawline, yielding natural-looking results with minimal scarring.
Recovery
After your facelift, you may experience swelling and bruising, which are normal. To minimize swelling, you should try to sleep with your head elevated during the first one to two weeks after the procedure. Swelling will peak during the first 36 to 48 hours after the procedure and gradually resolve over the following two weeks. In some cases, it may take up to six to eight months for the swelling to completely subside. Your facelift results will continue to improve during this period. The results will bring you confidence and satisfaction for many years.
Most patients may resume normal activities within seven to ten days. However, you should avoid vigorous physical exercise for at least three weeks.
Dr. Omidi and his staff are committed to treating patients with the highest consideration and care. They will follow up after the procedure to ensure that you are recovering as planned. If necessary, Dr. Omidi will prescribe safe oral medication to manage any mild discomfort that you may experience.
Results
A facelift dramatically revitalizes one’s appearance, offering a more youthful, refined look. Scars typically fade and become inconspicuous over time, blending well into natural contours. With proper care and healthy lifestyle choices, results can last for many years, contributing to lasting satisfaction.
Corresponding Procedures

Facelifts are only one of many different facial rejuvenation procedures that are available to patients. Many patients will include eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, in their facelift treatment plans as well to enhance their results. The skin around the eyes is thinner than other parts of the face, and as a result, this region can showcase signs of aging more clearly than others. Crow’s feet, sagging eyelids, and undereye bags are common features, and these can all be effectively addressed through eyelid surgery. Many patients will also experience sagging skin on their necks. This can be addressed with a neck lift, and combining this treatment with a facelift helps to enhance the results of both procedures.
Cost of Facelifts in Beverly Hills
The total cost of your facelift will depend on the techniques used in your treatment, the scale of the procedure, your medical history, your unique goals, and a few other factors. After you meet with Dr. Omidi to discuss your facelift, you will receive a comprehensive price estimate. Our practice also offers financing options to help patients access their treatment.
