PRP and PRF
Conveniently located to serve the areas of Beverly Hills and Greater Los Angeles

Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) is a second-generation platelet concentrate developed to overcome the limitations of platelet-rich plasma (PRP). Both are natural treatments derived from your own blood that use growth factors to heal tissue, improve skin, and regrow hair.

About Platelet-Rich Plasma
Platelet-rich plasma is a treatment that is made from your own blood to accelerate healing in injured joints, tendons, and hair follicles. It can also be utilized during skin rejuvenation and microneedling procedures to boost collagen production. It involves drawing blood and spinning it in a centrifuge to separate growth factors and injecting the concentrated blood plasma into the targeted area. Small amounts of anticoagulants coat the inside of collection tubes to keep blood samples from clotting before they are spun. PRP contains high levels of growth factors, which have marked growth potential and induce faster healing. (1)
About Platelet-Rich Fibrin
PRF is a second-generation platelet concentrate derived from your blood, which is extracted and processed at a lower speed than traditional PRP without the inclusion of anticoagulants, allowing natural fibrin to form. It promotes healing, builds collagen, and rejuvenates skin and hair. After centrifugation, Dr. Omidi injects the resulting concentration of platelets, white blood cells, and growth factors into target areas. PRF contains platelets, growth factors, white blood cells, stem cells, and a fibrin matrix, which acts as a scaffold for tissue repair.
Main Differences Between PRP and PRF
PRP uses a high concentration of platelets and has a thin, fluid-like consistency. It rapidly releases growth factors in a short amount of time to stimulate collagen and tissue regeneration. This therapy is ideal for targeting fine lines, wrinkles, dull skin, signs of aging, hair thinning and hair loss, uneven skin texture, and acne scars. Results will appear after six to nine months.
PRF contains a higher concentration of platelets, fibrin, and white blood cells and has a gel-like, thicker viscosity. It slowly releases sustained growth factors over time. This therapy is more effective at regenerating tissue and providing structural stability, thanks to its fibrin matrix. It is able to target deep wrinkles, facial hollows, advanced signs of aging, and hair loss. Its results last 6 to 12 months and provide temporary volume as a natural filler.
Benefits
PRP and PRF can deliver regenerative benefits that can transform your skin and hair and speed up injury recovery. (2) Additional benefits include the following:
- Stimulated collagen
- Replaced volume
- Brightened skin tone
- Supported joint and hair health
- Long-lasting recovery results
- Diminished fine lines and wrinkles
PRP or PRF: Which One Should You Choose?
Choose PRP if:
- You want quicker results for improved skin texture or hair regrowth
- You want to target mild-to-moderate fine lines, acne scars, or early-stage hair thinning
- You are looking for a faster treatment with minimal downtime
- You prefer a liquid injectable that’s ideal for superficial applications
Choose PRF if:
- You are dealing with more advanced signs of aging, such as volume loss, deeper wrinkles, or hollowness under your eyes
- You want a gradual release of growth hormones for sustained healing
- You want to stimulate collagen production and skin regeneration over time
- You prefer a gel-like treatment that is a natural filler and adds structural support
Candidates
If you are seeking skin rejuvenation, hair restoration, or joint pain relief and want to enhance your natural healing process, this therapy may be ideal for you. You must be in relatively good health, have stable blood platelet counts, and be free of any critical blood cancers. If you are experiencing severe inflammation, open wounds, or active infections at the treatment site, you may need alternative or delayed treatment.
Personal Consultation
During your personal consultation, Dr. Omidi will begin by evaluating your medical history and examining your concerns. He will discuss your goals and expectations for your therapy to ensure he delivers the best option for you, whether that’s PRP or PRF therapy. This is also an ideal opportunity to address any questions or concerns you may have. Dr. Omidi wants you to feel comfortable and confident before beginning your treatment.

Preparation
Effectively preparing for your treatment therapy helps you to achieve long-lasting results. Dr. Omidi recommends that you follow these steps before beginning your therapy.
- Pause blood-thinning medications and supplements at least a week prior to your appointment
- Increase your water intake to improve plasma quality
- Abstain from alcohol and nicotine at least a couple of days before your treatment
Procedure
Dr. Omidi will begin your procedure by drawing a small amount of blood, usually from a vein in your arm. He then places the blood tube into a centrifuge to separate the healing parts. For PRP, the fast spin and anticoagulants prevent the blood from clotting. This process separates red blood cells from the plasma, which contains the platelets and growth factors. For PRF, he uses a slower spin speed and avoids anti-clotting chemicals. (3) The gentle spinning creates a more natural and higher concentration of platelets, white blood cells, and fibrin matrix mesh.
Once he spins your sample to create a PRP or PRF concentrate, he will clean your treatment site and apply topical numbing cream. For targeting joints, he will inject the concentrated platelets directly into the injured tissue using ultrasound guidance for precision. If he is treating your skin or hair, he will use microneedling to stamp the plasma into the skin or scalp.
Recovery
Immediately after your procedure, you may experience mild swelling, discomfort, and some bruising at the injection site, which is normal and can last up to five days. During this time, you should avoid nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen or aspirin for at least two weeks, as they can block the healing process. If you are experiencing some discomfort, you can opt for acetaminophen instead. You must also avoid strenuous activities, saunas, or hot baths for at least five days.
Results
Initial improvements occur after two to four weeks as your collagen production peaks, and you will notice firmer skin texture, reduced fine lines and wrinkles, improved hair growth, and better under-eye tone. Maximum tissue healing and pain relief will occur over three to six months, especially if you receive PRF, as results are more gradual.
